Could The Steal Be Employed To Stop the Embarrassment?

After the '84 Reagan Revolution they said, “Never again.”

Before I begin today's post, I issue this disclaimer:

I am a mere subject of my State of Minnesota, who goes to work each day and tries to cobble together a few earned pennies that Governor Walz has not yet figured out how to tax. I have no inside knowledge of the veracity of State election integrities. My post today is pure fiction. My storyline is a take on contemporary narratives regarding historical voting irregularities, projected onto a possible future election outcome. If I were a political thriller author, this scenario would be the premise of my next novel. My fictional premise rests on the notion that nefarious forces exist and that they can and do manipulate voter ballots to sway the legitimate outcome of elections.

As we head into the final stretch of the 2024 presidential campaign season, the momentum is clearly with Donald Trump. His three-hour sit down with Joe Rogan followed by a "Triumph," of Roman proportions, in his home state of New York at Madison Square Garden last Sunday will probably seal the deal that Trump will be elected our 47th president. And, if those two significant events were not great enough, Joe Biden's unforced error of labeling 50% of Americans, "garbage" could prove to be the proverbial "cherry on top" in this election cycle. At the same time, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have been flailing at their rallies and in the poles. Harris' multimillion dollar rally billing a "performance" from Beyonce, flopped once the singing artist merely came on stage for three minutes to announce her support for the Harris / Walz ticket and then promptly exited without singing a note. Where VP pick Tim Walz is struggling to sell his Minnesota version of socialism to the nation, JD Vance confidently "owns" every media outlet interview by calmly and succinctly calling out progressive biases. As in all competitions, momentum is everything, and with days to go before the final voting day on Tuesday, November 5th, the momentum is clearly with the Trump / Vance ticket.

Now, with what is building to be an Electoral College sweep, and possibly a popular vote victory as well, what would our fictional nefarious forces do with their power to election tamper? The theory up to this disastrous week for the Harris / Walz ticket, was for the pollsters and media commentators to report a narrative that Trump and Harris are in a dead heat. With the "its a tight race" narrative, the fictional deep state apparatus could once again pull out the extra ballots in the critical swing states to overturn a legitimate election. If the real Trump votes simply overwhelm the number of fake ballots required to overcome the deficiencies in those crucial toss-up states, what should the “thumb on the election scalers” do? There is, after all, a point where the number of fake ballots required to produce a Harris / Walz victory would be too noticeable to ignore. Like if the fake ballots added into the voting machine tallies far exceed the number of registered voters in a given district.

If, as my hypothetical and entirely fictional premise predicts, that the Trump momentum is simply too much for the nefarious machine to overcome, should they keep the cheat at bay? If they cannot muster enough fake ballots to overcome a Trump victory, prudence suggests that they shouldn’t risk the illegal activity and keep their "election fraud" powder dry for the next election in two years. I mean, why risk exposing their grift if it can't produce their desired result?

History may be the reason that the smoked-filled room denizens may still need to go forward with the attempted steal. This coming election has all the making of 1984. That was the year I voted in my first presidential election. I was a freshman at a liberal liberal arts college in Minnesota. I remember vividly the dozen or so Republicans on campus sitting in my dorm room watching the election results unfold on television. Reagan soundly defeated his Minnesotan opponent, Walter Mondale, and swept the electoral college table by securing every state in the union save Minnesota and Washington DC. If I had Ben Shapiro's wit and foresight back then, I would have branded a "Liberal Tears" coffee mug following that election, as I witnessed actual co-eds in tears that election evening. History may not repeat itself, but it certainly rhymes. And here we are 30 years post the Reagan landslide victory with a second-term popular republican leading against another poor performing democratic presidential ticket with a prominent Minnesotan on the ballot.

There are not enough coffee mugs on earth to collect all the tears that will flow if Trump / Vance pull off a 1984 - style victory at the poles by winning all the states except Minnesota and Washington DC. More importantly, for nefarious forces to allow that kind of mandate providing victory to the man they dubbed as Hitler incarnate, is simply unacceptable. The democrat’s vote counting hegemony that sprung from the Covid-frightened election of 2020 and was perfected in 2022 has no choice but to continue the steal, even if they cannot produce enough votes to propel their "word smorgasbord" candidate across the finish line. To allow the American people to see the reality of the true number of Americans supporting Trump is unfathomable. People in power never want the oppressed to realize their true numbers.

In Ancient Rome, it was said that slaves were directed to wear the same clothes as Roman citizens out of fear that if the slaves truly knew their numbers within Roman society, they would rebel and overthrow their masters. I get the same feeling with this season’s projected election results. At this point, even if the steal cannot muster enough votes, without completely leaving the realm of believability, to produce a Kamala Harris victory, they must endeavor to keep it close. If the American people really knew the true percent of voters that favored Trump, the progressive meltdown could not be contained.

There is countless doomsday scenarios bantered about Substack by other fiction writers that tackle the various Trump vs Harris victory story arcs. I am an Occam’s Razor type of writer, and the simplest storyline will most likely prevail. That is, no matter who wins in the weeks to come, the losing side will accuse the other of cheating. There will be selective outrage and curated protests portrayed in the “media” to allow for butt-hurt feelings to be expressed. A new president will be seated in January and a nation will go back to their sports, to their Netflix and to their overtaxed unfulfilled lives. In the immortal words of Talking Heads, it will be “same as it ever was.”

For this fiction author, my story arc is based on stopping the embarrassment. Since the steal is now baked into the voting system and conservatives must now win beyond that margin, to return to a straight up legitimate count would reveal past tampering. And proof of tampering would require government action to prosecute the perpetrators. Allowing that to happen is about as likely as our federal legislators relying solely on government issued salaries and pensions to fund their lifestyles. The forces of evil simply have no choice. Even though their selected (not elected) candidate is incredibly weak and unlikable, letting the true vote tally prevail would upset future king (or queen) makers. They know that if they allow a Trump win, no matter the half-baked margins presented to the public, he and many legislators will simply move on from voting integrity issues and focus on other challenges. The best thing that can happen for the shadow vote counters is to be ignored until the next cycle, where they will use two years if 95% negative Trump news coverage to move the electorate back into the margins of cheat. Plus, as the “Trump is Hitler” PSYOP is crumbling, one cannot discount the fact “the steal” will also be employed simply to “stop the embarrassment!”
