We Love Our Caneltration Camps
Pour out all the Russian vodka. Uninvite Russian opera singers, cancel performances of Tchaikovsky and hashtag support Ukraine! In the United States, and the World, virtue singling is in full swing and, when I say in full swing, I mean fully swinging the cancel culture club. But, unlike Boy George the question does not have to be asked, they "really do want to hurt you!"
Like many Americans, with a corporate media bereft of integrity, I have been conditioned to mistrust virtually all "news" that wonders through my various on-line feeds. Long gone are the journalistic organizations in which one may trust. All media consumers should know that every article of media produced is filter and neatly packed for our consumption by individuals who have an agenda. And, to that end, regardless of the political ideologies, the propagandized news is nefarious. Thus, what we are being told about the Russian-Ukraine conflict is not truth, it is merely versions of the “truth” that powerful media institutions want us to believe.
How do I know everything I read and hear about the Russian-Ukraine conflict is not true? Simple, I saw it in the news! So, what do people do when truth in media is as prevalent as a snow storm in July? They are forced to decipher events based on their own knowledge and experience. And, since knowledge and experience varies widely among individuals, the human species has wondered into the dark and unknowing world of relative truth. This is an evil place where we consume only what fits within our limited experiences and shun all that disagrees with our preconditioned knowledge. The worst thing about coming to this relative place is that we start to view history through those same rose tainted glasses.
Now to the point of my article, how does a nation square itself with the current cancelation of all things Russian? One of the darkest, post slavery, episodes in America history was FDR's executive order to intern Japanese-American and to a lesser extent, German-American citizens during WWII. We all studied this tragic historical fact in school, and were instructed that it is was wrong. We were not told that it was a Democratic president that ordered US citizens into concentration camps or that their internment strictly violated our country's Constitution. We were simply taught imprisoning lawful citizens based on ethnicity violated human rights and as such it was wrong. I will run with those scissors for a while.
So, if interning over 120,000 ethnically different citizens in 1942 was a human rights violation, than isn't it also a human rights violation to do this to Russian nationals, citizens and their companies in 2022? After all, aren't we all citizens of the World now, so does it really matter the canceled Russians are not necessarily citizens of the US?
But, we are not putting the Russians into concentration camps you say, it is not the same thing. Really, what was the purpose of the 1942 internment camps? To strip Japanese-Americans of their ability to work, own property, bank, speak and most importantly, defend themselves in a court of law. How is the United States’ 1942 internment camps any different than our modern 2022 canceltration camps?
Is not the purpose of cancel culture in this case specifically to punish individuals based on an ethnicity that is unagreeable to the sensitivities of this modern crisis? Is not the purpose of cancel culture to stripe these deplorables of their ability to earn a living and support their families? Is not the goal of cancel culture to render wrong-thinking individuals that dare speak their mind unable to bank and own property? Is not the end game of cancel culture to punish the “anti-truth” perpetrators into not using the public square for their “blasphemous” ideas. Finally, is not cancel culture ultimate intention to render the ill-informed to be unable to defend themselves in a court of law? I say again, what is the difference between FDR’S concentration camps and our modern version of virtual canceltration camps?
Truth matters, and I don’t mean your truth and my truth. We are living in a relative truth hellscape. Our society is wallowing in the relative charnel grounds where truth is awash with festering and fecal decay propagating by sellout media juggernauts. The moment a truth is born, it is immediately pulled back into this cesspool by competing media corporatists before it can spring wings and fly free.
There is a capital “T” Truth with regard to the Russian-Ukraine conflict and God knows the right. And, until we can find the right, we should be very wary of following any relative truthist through Dante’s hopeless gates. Every person who gleefully supports canceltration camps because they believe they have relative truth and social justice on their side are susceptible to the same fate should prevailing social and political winds switch direction. Light is God’s natural sanitizer and the relative truthist media deplores it. Therefore, we must seek Truth and embrace it! We must embrace Truth as a child embraces a mother, for both are vital to life support. For our growth through gaining new knowledge depends on access to and understanding of Truth. Otherwise, our spirituality is forever beholden to the secular relativists who dominate the public square. And of the media sponsored proliferation of those individuals, our cup runneth over!
